England. Henry VIII. Half Groat 1509-1526

King Henry VIII Silver Halfgroat – Tudor Dynasty! Fantastic piece of Tudor history. This hammered silver Halfgroat (2 Pence) was minted during the early reign of the infamous King Henry VIII (First Coinage, 1509–1526). Interestingly, because Henry took the throne at a young age, this early issue actually uses the recognized profile portrait of his late father, King Henry VII! Weighing 1.2 grams, this 500-year-old coin is in wonderful condition for a hammered piece. It features a clear right-facing profile portrait on the obverse. On the reverse, if you look closely next to the royal shield, you can clearly see the initials "W A". These stand for William Warham, the Archbishop of Canterbury who oversaw this specific mint! It boasts a great antique silver tone and strong historical eye appeal. Please see the pictures for a better impression. • Country: England (Tudor Dynasty) • Ruler: King Henry VIII (1st Coinage, 1509-1526) • Mint: Canterbury (Archbishop William Warham) • Denomination: Halfgroat (2d) • Weight: 1.2g • Composition: Silver
