Phonola - 5531 Tube radio

Phonola Model 5531 – Mid-Century Italian Design – Excellent Aesthetic Condition beautiful and highly collectible Phonola Model 5531, a true gem of Italian radio engineering from the 1950s (FIMI; Saronno). This particular unit is in exceptionally well-preserved condition, making it a rare find for serious collectors and enthusiasts of vintage electronics. Condition & Aesthetics: The radio features a stunning wooden case with a rich grain finish that has been remarkably well-maintained. The front facade, including the dial glass and the cream-colored knobs/grille, is in "Very Good" visual condition with minimal signs of age. It is rare to find this specific model in such a clean and intact state. Technical Status: • Power: The radio powers on (lights up). • Functionality: Due to the wave bands (Broadcast and Short Wave) and the lack of FM on this vintage tube model, I have not been able to tune into a clear modern station in my area. However, the internal components appear complete. It is being sold as a beautiful vintage piece that turns on, though a technical check-up is recommended for daily use. Technical Specifications (from Radiomuseum): • Model: 5531 - Phonola SA, FIMI; Saronno VA • Country of Origin: Italy • Year: Circa 1951/1952 • Valves / Tubes: 6 tubes (UCH41-42, UAF42, UAF42, UL41, UY41) • Main Principle: Superheterodyne; ZF/IF 470 kHz • Wave Bands: Broadcast (Medium Wave) and Short Wave (SW) • Loudspeaker: Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) • Power Type: Alternating Current supply (AC) / adjustable voltage (125; 140; 160; 220 Volt) • Material: Elegant Wooden Case • Dimensions: 50cm x 24cm x 27cm
