Betekenis van de twee metalen punten:
Balans en Functie: De punt aan de onderkant (de 'hiel' of 'schoen') dient als tegengewicht voor het grote speerblad aan de bovenkant. Hierdoor ligt de speer beter in de hand.
Lengte totaal: 250 cm
Spitse punt:97 cm lang
Speerblad: 81 cm lang en 3 cm breed.
1 houten speer of oefenspeer
Lengte: 177 en speerblad 5.5 cm
