Origin: China; Model: Tibet - Cleaned; a hand-knotted Oriental rug in wool on cotton, 338 by 255 cm, dating to the mid-20th century, professionally cleaned, generally in good condition with about 160,000 knots per m².
Description from the seller
-- "Special & semi-antique Tibetan rug, an impressive piece in beautiful condition"
-- Professionally cleaned*
-- approx. 160,000 knots per m²
-- With Certificate
*For entry into our warehouse, cleaned at a laundry specialized in hand-knotted rugs, afterwards not used.
This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made of durable, natural materials. The knotting method and the diversity of patterns make this rug unique and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
It concerns an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan.
This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid out as is. This beautiful Tibetan rug is hand-knotted circa 1960 with the finest, unbleached wool obtained from sheep in the high Tibetan region. This wool is naturally extra greasy due to the cold temperatures (acts as insulation for the sheep). When this wool is used in rugs, it not only provides a gorgeous, extra sheen but also acts as a natural protective layer. Wool of higher quality is (almost) not to be found. Natural color variation is visible, due to the wool not being bleached before the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic look, and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
Main color: Red
Accent colors: Cream and black
Details: Rich abrash (natural color differences between fibers); Much sheen; Beautiful, clean and fresh; Full, thick and cushioned rug; Gorgeous luster; Depending on the viewing angle this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Special object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Signs of use: Minimal edge damage spots, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
