Déposée - Carbide lamp - Bicycle light - 1900

A rare and complete antique bicycle lantern in tin-plated sheet metal, equipped with a convex glass lens at the front and a hinged flap with an inner reflector. The characteristic layered ventilation chimney on top, the adjustment knobs at the front, and the mounting bracket are all original.

On the bottom are three stamps visible that confirm origin and dating: the Swiss patent number +5961, the French brand designation "Déposée" and the British registration number Rd No 191819 — indicating international protection of this design around 1895-1905.

The lens is convex cut glass; the inner side has a white reflector scale. The whole is complete and well preserved with authentic patina.
Condition: good vintage condition with authentic signs of use and patina appropriate to its great age. Complete and original.
