Description from the seller
Exceptional Egermann Vase – Ruby Glass, 24k Gold, Museum-Quality Unique Piece
This extraordinary vase represents the pinnacle of traditional Bohemian glassmaking, originating from the renowned Egermann glassworks in Nový Bor, Czech Republic – a region famous worldwide for its centuries-old glassmaking heritage.
The piece is crafted using the iconic Egermann overlay technique (“Egermann lazur”), which gives the glass its deep, rich ruby-red tone. Red glass has historically been one of the most complex and expensive colors to produce, requiring exceptional skill and precision – making pieces like this highly desirable among collectors.
The surface is richly decorated and hand-gilded with 24k gold, applied with remarkable attention to detail. The combination of cut patterns, elegant proportions, and gold ornamentation creates a truly luxurious and timeless appearance.
The Egermann name traces back to Friedrich Egermann (1777–1864), a pioneering figure in glass decoration. He is credited with developing innovative staining and surface-finishing techniques that revolutionized Bohemian glass and elevated it to an international level of prestige. His legacy continues today through pieces that reflect the same craftsmanship, artistry, and dedication to perfection.
