Very rare and original: antique box from the late 19th century with a DOUBLE compartment:
Upper compartment for geometry instruments, late 19th / early 20th century, marked “Compas Supérieurs Breveté”, with 11 elements
• brass compass, interchangeable points,
adjustment accessories, protractor (slid under the lid),... in steel, brass and bone, traces of oxidation and wear in some places
One item missing
- In a lower purple velvet compartment
- Gold logo in excellent condition under the lid.
Lower compartment complete with:
12 paint sticks signed J.F.A, 1 brush, 1 small ruler, 1 sepia, 2 porcelain mixing bowls …
- Rare set in this condition and also complete
- Lovely varnished wood case, probably rosewood, with brass inlay. some very light scratches and a chip near the lock (see photo)
- Lock functional but catching with key
- Closed box dimensions: approx. 19 × 12 × 4.5 cm; weight = 650 g
