Fact: From August 1948, the Oberpostdirektion Hannover began its own shunting service between Hannover Hbf, Wagenabstellbahnhof-Pferdeturm (mail distribution hall), Postanlage Clausewitzstraße and Postanlage Westseite with its own diesel locomotives. Until the end of 1953, however, three rebuilt, triple-coupled diesel locomotives (rebuilt from the DB series V 36) from the army were available. They initially operated in two and later three continuous services over the tracks of Hauptbahnhof Hannover, even in double traction for heavy trains, known as the "doppeltes Lottchen". The locomotives were initially painted black, but from the 1960s adorned in bright red with a silver roof, a post horn, and yellow inscriptions. The locomotives marked as numbers 1, 3 and 4 ran until 1 August 1972, when, for rationalization reasons, the shunting service with own locomotives in Hannover was discontinued.
