Rare pair of half-moon (demilune) plates by Piero Fornasetti for Fiat Torino, late 1960s.
They are numbers 1 and 2 from the special series “Specialmente eseguita per la Fiat Torino,” with an urban motif depicting the Mole Antonelliana and a Fiat car in the foreground, symbolizing the city of Turin.

• Series: Specially executed series for Fiat Torino
• Serial numbers: No. 1 and No. 2 (indicated on the back)
• Material: white glazed porcelain with black screen print
• Decoration: panorama of Turin with the Mole Antonelliana and a Fiat car
• Dimensions: maximum width about 20 cm, height about 9 cm
• Era: 1960s
• Mark on the back: Rampant lion with inscription “Specially executed for Fiat Torino – by Piero Fornasetti – Milan – Italy”
• Condition: generally good, with slight signs of aging and small superficial abrasions due to age. No visible chipping.

Description

Produced in limited edition, these demilune plates were commissioned by Fiat from the Milan-based atelier of Piero Fornasetti as a commemorative tribute to the city of Turin and to the automobile industry of the era.
They depict two different views of the Mole Antonelliana with Fiat automobiles on a finely cross-hatched background, typical of Fornasetti’s graphic style.
