Description from the seller
"Cocoon" pendant lamp – Design Friedel Wauer for Goldkant Leuchten (1960s)
A fascinating pendant lamp in the "Cocoon" technique, an iconic expression of European design in the 1960s. This piece is attributed to Friedel Wauer's production for Goldkant Leuchten, a leading company that made famous the work with sprayed polymer resin on a frame.
The diffuser is made with the distinctive "Cocoon" polymer, which gives the light a warm, diffuse, enveloping glow, creating a unique atmosphere.
The shape, characterized by an elegant pattern of wedges/diamonds, is supported by a sturdy steel-wire frame typical of high-end craftsmanship of the period.
The lamp still retains the original plastic lamp holder (E27), stamped with the era's international certifications (VDE, D, S, FI), testifying to the quality of production aimed at the European market.
Overall in excellent condition with the usual, light signs of wear and age. Tested and working.
Please take a close look at the photographic gallery, which is an integral part of the description.
Careful packaging and tracked shipping
This piece represents an important testament to the Space Age movement and to the technological experimentation in postwar lighting design. Its clean aesthetics and soft light make it a timeless furnishing object, perfect for settings ranging from pure mid-century modern to contemporary design. A rare opportunity to acquire an item that preserves intact all the charm of its origin.
