Cube-shaped transparent plexiglass Italian Space Age design table, 64 × 64 × 64 cm, weight about 40 kg, in good used condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
TAVOLO SPACE AGE.
Space Age Italian design table in transparent plexiglass.
Cube-shaped, 64x64x64 cm and with a total weight of 40 kg.
It consists of 5 plexiglass panels, 4 large 64 x 64 and two centimeters thick, and one 64 x 64 cm panel about 1 cm thick.
The large panels weigh 9 kg each; the small one 4 kg.
I’ve prepared a quote for a hypothetical purchase of plexiglass with the same measurements, characteristics and thickness, resulting in a value of around 650-700 euros just for the raw material.
Presumed age: 1960-80 period.
Given the period and material, it presents in good used condition.
There are sparse scratches here and there as in the photo. One large panel, to be used as a base, shows material losses in two corners and in the interlock/slide system on one side. This does not affect use or stability of the piece, providing the necessary play for the fit without problems. Hard to notice unless viewed up close and in detail.
Observe the photos; they are part of the description.
I washed the panels first with cold water, then twice with warm water and Marseille soap. Finally I used toothpaste to lightly smooth without damaging the surface.
I took cues and suggestions from the internet as follows:
"To clean plexiglass, use a microfiber cloth and a solution of warm water and neutral soap, avoiding harsh products like alcohol or acetone. For scratches, use toothpaste, polish compound or car wax for light ones, or waterproof fine-grit sandpaper (starting from 1000 down to 2500) wetting the surface for deeper ones, always in circular motions.
It will be packed carefully and shipped via tracked mail, using special materials given the volume, weight, and delicacy of the material, even packing into two packages if necessary.
I do not ship outside the EU borders and to outlying islands such as the Canary Islands, etc."
