Description from the seller

A magnificent large-format campaign desk (writing slope), a classic piece of portable 19th-century furniture. Its dimensions and the richness of its hardware make it a distinguished example of Anglo-Indian or colonial style, originally designed for officers or merchants on transatlantic voyages and expeditions.
Construction and Details:
Materials: Built in solid, high-density wood (possibly rosewood or teak) with a deep dark tone. It features exceptional brass reinforcements at all corners and edges, designed to protect the piece during transport.
Ornamentation: Highlights the central plate and corner pieces, which display delicate fretwork and engraving with floral motifs, characteristic of high-quality export pieces from the Victorian era.
Hardware: Retains its robust original side carrying handles, engineered to support the weight of solid wood.
Interior Configuration:
The desk unfolds to reveal a complete internal organization:
Top compartments for writing implements and inkwells.
Removable wooden trays that provide access to lower storage compartments (secret).
An integrated document sorter inside the lid.
Included Accessories:
As a historic addition, an old sealing wax stamp with a turned wooden handle is included.
Informational note: The seal head is worn and unreadable; it is provided solely as a decorative object to complete the aesthetic setup.
Condition:
The piece is in good original condition with an aged patina. It shows natural cracks in the wood and some old repairs that attest to its authenticity and long history of more than 150 years (see detailed photographs). It does not include a key or glass inkwells. The structure is very solid, heavy, and functional.
Dimensions:
Width: 50 cm
Depth: 36 cm
Height: 21 cm (closed)
Safe Packing and Shipping:
Given the importance and weight of this piece, I take its protection very seriously:
Internal Protection: The internal trays will be secured to prevent movement during transit.
Professional Packaging: The desk will be wrapped in multiple layers of thick bubble wrap and its corners will be reinforced with foam.
Reinforced Box: It will be sent in a high-strength double-wall cardboard box, precisely fitted to prevent any impact.
Tracking: An international tracking number will be provided immediately after shipping so the buyer can monitor the package to its destination.
