This is a small brass commemorative miner’s safety lamp, not an ordinary working lamp. Bought from Brussels.
It is symbolic / ceremonial, made to commemorate an important event in the history of miners’ organizations rather than for daily underground use. This lamp was presented in 1947 as a gift of appreciation from the miners of the Borinage to Mr. De Keyser, a national-level union or mutualist leader.
