Cross - Bronze - 1800-1850 - Croce astile

An interesting crucifix or staff cross from the late 18th/early 19th century. Made of bronze, it mirrors Gothic style in its form, and the cross is entirely engraved with a burin, showing how old the piece is. Originally made as the finial for a processional staff, it was later mounted on a wooden base of a more recent period. The cross alone measures 44 x 21 x 6 cm, with some terminal sections missing and an old restoration on the reverse side, all due to the passage of time. Due to current regulations it cannot be shipped outside the European Union.
