Description from the seller
Title: The Conquerors
School: European (20th Century)
Style: Costumbrista
Technique: Oil on canvas
The work presents a narrative scene set in a rural environment beside a river. In the foreground, a group of figures dressed in traditional attire, possibly peasants or travelers, are gathered around a small wooden wharf. Some characters are about to embark, while others remain on the shore resting or conversing, creating a dynamic and balanced composition.
The piece highlights rich chromatic depth in the greens of the landscape and the ochers of the earth, as well as the careful rendering of the garments, where the artist pays particular attention to textile details and light contrasts. In the background, rural buildings and vegetation add depth to the scene, reinforcing the everyday and evocative character of the composition. The brushwork is precise but with a certain looseness typical of 20th-century costumbrista painting.
The work is presented framed in a carved and gilded wooden frame of great ornamental richness. Decorated with vegetal motifs and relief scrolls, it presents a classic Baroque-inspired aesthetic. The gilded finish, slightly aged, adds elegance and enhances the piece, giving it a notable presence.
Dimensions: 32 x 42 cm
Dimensions with frame: 51 x 62 cm
Notes:
The work may show slight signs of wear consistent with its age.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to causes such as being outside a continental territory, excess size, or weight of the item. PremiArt will in no case be responsible for this surcharge.
Due to problems at the Switzerland border, we are obliged to inform you that shipments with more than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
