Description from the seller
Two-Seater Divan in Louis XV Style - 20th Century Epoch
A refined two-seat canapé in Louis XV style, featuring a solid wood structure finely carved with sinuous lines. The piece rests on five cabriole legs, with a central leg for greater stability and structural support.
The backrest is double, with a “chapeau de gendarme” shape that adds a touch of classical elegance. The upholstery is cream/champagne-toned damask fabric with tone-on-tone floral motifs, finished with coordinated braided trim.
Technical characteristics:
- Style: Louis XV
- Material: Wood (probably walnut or tinted beech)
- Seats: 2
- Legs: 5 cabriole legs
- Details: Discreet floral carvings on the crown and the front rail.
Conditions (to read carefully):
The divan is structurally solid, but requires some restoration and cleaning work to return to its former splendor. As highlighted by the close-up photos:
Structure: There is a missing small portion of carved wood on the top part of the backrest (photo DSC_0091) and signs of wear along the edges of the wood (photos DSC_0095/96).
Upholstery: The seat and backrest show stains from use and time (photo DSC_0097).
Lower part: The lower protective fabric (dust cover) shows large moisture/grass stains and dirt marks (photos DSC_0099/0102). Cleaning the fabric or reupholstering is recommended.
Fastening: Some upholstery tacks or nails are visible or slightly loose on the underside.
