Dial and Hands
The dial of this Oris is a masterclass in texture and layout, featuring a stunning cream base decorated with intricate guilloché patterns that catch the light beautifully. It displays a sophisticated array of complications, including a day subdial at three o'clock, a 24-hour second time zone indicator at six o'clock, a date subdial at nine o'clock, and a captivating blue and gold moonphase aperture at twelve o'clock. The applied rose gold-tone faceted dart indices provide excellent contrast and match the luminous-filled rose gold-tone hands perfectly. Crisp black printing frames the subdials and the outer minute track. Upon close visual inspection, the dial presents beautifully overall, though there is a clear, localized surface scratch or mark located near the four o'clock position, extending slightly toward the day subdial. The hands remain in excellent condition with warm, evenly aged luminous material.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm stainless steel case features a fully polished finish that enhances its classical dress watch appeal. The architecture is highly distinctive, characterized by a stepped bezel, pronounced crown guards, and elegantly articulated, downward-sloping lugs that ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. Recessed pushers on the case flanks allow for the quick adjustment of the calendar and moonphase functions. The case is in good vintage condition, exhibiting honest signs of wear, including light, superficial scratches and minor handling marks consistent with normal use, without any deep gouges. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, as proudly denoted on the caseback, which remains clean and clear, offering an unobstructed view of the complex dial. The exhibition caseback showcases the movement and features crisp, legible factory engravings around its polished steel perimeter.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the automatic Oris Caliber 574, a 17-jewel mechanical movement renowned for its robust architecture and modular complication capabilities. The movement is beautifully displayed through the exhibition caseback, highlighted by a striking gold-tone rotor finished with a refined perlage-style texture and Oris branding. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +30 to +40 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is paired with a handsome dark brown leather strap featuring an embossed alligator grain pattern. The strap complements the cream and rose gold tones of the dial perfectly and is secured with a classic stainless steel pin buckle.
Condition
This Oris Artelier Moonphase Complication is in good vintage condition. The polished stainless steel case retains its original contours and shows only moderate, age-consistent surface wear. The intricate guilloché dial is highly attractive and structurally sound, though it does bear a visible surface mark near the four o'clock area. The movement is clean, operational, and proudly displayed through the sapphire exhibition back.
