Description from the seller

The Baluchs are a nomadic ethnic group from the region of Baluchistan, a district bordering Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Baluch rugs can be made on a foundation of cotton or wool, and goat or horsehair is often used in the weft. Traditionally they were made from sheep or goat wool from the tribes' own herds, while modern Baluch rugs most often have a cotton warp.

The rugs are generally smaller due to their tribal origin and are woven on horizontal looms with vibrant, geometric patterns. Curvilinear life-tree motifs as well as prayer rugs with a mihrab niche are typical and sought-after examples. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch rugs are relatively thin, but tightly woven, which makes them soft and flexible.

Condition: Generally in good condition, with age-related signs of wear, please see pictures, 40-50 years old,
