A pair of exterior wrought-iron Art Nouveau lanterns with amber glass, dating to 1940–1950 and made in France, in good used condition and both in working order, one wall‑mounted and the other hanging from a chain, each measuring 25 × 25 × 22 cm.
Description from the seller
They are a pair of lanterns that retain that quiet charm of objects that have lived decades outdoors without losing their dignity. The wrought iron, worked with broad curves and a design almost vegetal, supports the amber glass bodies as if they were small capsules of warm light. It’s clear they are mid-20th-century pieces: they aren’t seeking industrial perfection, but presence, the artisan’s touch, the sturdiness meant to last.
Time leaves its mark in the patina of the metal, in those areas where rust has drawn reddish shadows and where the original black has softened. Also in the glass, which keeps its deep amber tone but shows small irregularities, bubbles and that circular relief that traps light and disperses it with an almost liquid gleam. One is designed for wall mounting, with its firm and decorative arm; the other hangs from a chain that adds movement and a more domestic or old-porch feel.
Together they function as a small dialogue between two ways of lighting the exterior: one more static, the other freer, but both with the same warmth and that nostalgic character that only noble materials aging honestly can give.
