Dynamische Reiterszene, an oil on canvas painting from the 19th century German School, originating in Germany, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
German School (19th–20th Century)
Dynamic equestrian scene
Technique: Oil on canvas
Signature: Hand-signed
Dimensions with frame: 42 × 54 cm
Dimensions without frame: 33 × 26 cm
Item number: GJ/R6020
Condition: Very good (see photos)
This expressive oil painting shows a lively scene with several riders in motion. The depiction is characterized by a dynamic composition, in which the horses seem to step powerfully out of the picture. Particularly striking is the spontaneous, almost sketch-like brushwork, which gives the work a high immediacy and energy.
The color palette consists of earthy base tones, enlivened by targeted red and light accents. This creates a dynamic, atmospheric scene in which it is the impression of speed and a moment captured that takes precedence over detailed, meticulous rendering.
Stylistically, the work can be placed at the transition from Impressionism to early Expressionism. The free painting style as well as the emphasis on movement and mood are characteristic of German painting at the turn of the century.
A decorative yet characterful original that impresses with its expressive portrayal and vivid presence.
