Attributed to Arne Basse, this massi ved teak Viking head/cru mb brush by Dansk Brugskunst from Denmark, circa 1960s, measures 14.5 cm in height by 21 cm in width, with a weight of 987 g and is in good vintage condition with signs of age and use.
Description from the seller
Arne Basse (attrib.) – Viking head / table brush in teak – Denmark, ca. 1960
Remarkable and playful Danish mid-century design object, attributed to Arne Basse for Dansk Brugskunst, executed in solid teak in the shape of a stylized Viking head.
This characterful object is designed in the typical humorous Scandinavian design language of the 1960s, with beautifully turned horns, minimalist inlaid eyes and sculptural proportions closely related to well-known Viking designs by Arne Basse.
Based on its styling and construction, this is probably a larger Viking table brush / crumb brush version.
The underside with attachment marks suggests that the original component is missing, causing the object today to present itself as a particularly sculptural design piece in its own right.
Precisely because of its generous size, this specimen stands out from the more common smaller versions.
