With Beyond Air, the Italian artist fotello pays homage to one of the most iconic figures in the history of contemporary sport, transforming Michael Jordan into an image that goes beyond a portrait to enter the realm of symbol. The work captures the suspended moment that defined the athlete’s myth: not merely a leap, but a fleeting release from gravity, where the athletic gesture becomes visual language.

The distinctive style of fotello blends street art, urban expressionism and contemporary figuration, building a composition of strong dramatic impact. The body emerges from a surface marked by graffiti, drips and material textures that evoke the metropolitan landscape from which basketball’s imagination is born. The figure appears sculpted in light and contrast, as if the very movement had carved the space around it.

fotello (Carrara, 1981) is a contemporary artist who works between painting and digital art.
Growing up in a family context closely tied to the artistic tradition – his grandmother was the artistic director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara – he developed from childhood a deep sensitivity to the visual arts.

After studying in the artistic field, since 2001 he has pursued a personal research that combines painting techniques and digital tools, establishing himself as an author recognizable for his style and the ability to fuse tradition and innovation. His digital works, signed with the pseudonym fotello, explore the boundaries between imagination and technology, always keeping the human and creative element at the center.

Parallel to this, he pursues modern painting, with particular attention to abstraction, understood as a language capable of evoking emotions and meanings not immediately decipherable.

His works, both painted and digital, are part of private collections in Italy and in several European countries.
