Description from the seller

We are deeply proud to present another essential work in Carla Ballarini's production: "Stupore". This bust represents a celebration of the lyricism and immediacy of human emotion. The artist captures the moment when the female figure is seized by a sudden feeling of wonder and admiration. The woman, with wide eyes and an expression of serene suspended gaze, seems to emerge from the raw material to become bearer of a universal message of astonishment and beauty. It is not a simple representation, but a symbolic fusion between the subject's soul and the emotional impact of the moment. A magnetic work, capable of dominating the surrounding environment and offering a focal point of extreme refinement for any contemporary art collection that looks to the continuity between classicism and informal exploration.

The work represents a pinnacle of the artist's material sculpture, both for execution and for symbolic complexity.

The female head modeled with direct technique, characterized by a refined play of volumes between the smooth veil and the portions deliberately left "unfinished" of the hair blown by the wind, typical of the artist's poetics. The genius of the composition lies in the formal synthesis that privileges visceral emotion over didactic precision.

Crafted in high-quality terracotta, the sculpture is finished with a clear and luminous patina, in tones of ivory white and natural beige. This finish highlights the intrinsic porosities and the marks of manual workmanship, fundamental elements of Ballarini's poetics that aim to maintain an inseparable bond with earth and the primordial element.

Signature and Authenticity: The hand-signed "C. BALLARINI" is clearly incised in relief on the rear base of the work, guaranteeing originality and direct provenance from the artist's archive.

An exemplar in excellent condition. Structural solidity is perfect, and the irregular surface marks and porosity are deliberate aesthetic choices by the artist that give the piece its distinctive character as a unique and unrepeatable object. The work is ready to be exhibited.

Acquiring this work, especially when paired with the other creations in the series, represents a strategic choice. Carla Ballarini confirms herself as an artist able to interpret contemporary taste through millennial techniques, ensuring a market relevance destined to consolidate over time.

We invite you to consult the other lots of our collection currently at auction: you will find a curated selection of other sculptural and pictorial works by Carla Ballarini. A unique opportunity to acquire more pieces by the same artist and create a coherent material dialogue within your private collection.
