Description from the seller
Scheurich “Pagode” Design Vase Lamp – Model 266-28 – West German Pottery, 1970s
This exceptional design lamp is based on an original ceramic vase from the well-known model series 266 by Scheurich, one of the most significant West German Pottery manufacturers. The offered model 266-28 comes from the early 1970s and is among the characteristic “pagoda forms” of that era.
The vase impresses with its clear, stepped silhouette and an especially intense, bright red glaze finish. Fine black accent lines emphasize the horizontal segmentation and underline the architectural language of form. Also notable is the slightly bluish shimmering glaze effect ("glitter"), which adds depth to the surface and an unusual, almost iridescent quality – a rare detail within the series.
The lampshade was chosen to suit the vase and covered with high-quality cotton fabric. The stylized crane motif on a dark blue background echoes Far Eastern design elements and forms an elegant contrast to the expressive ceramic. A red finishing band at the top and bottom edges provides a harmonious connection between base and shade and gives the lamp a particularly noble appearance.
Dimensions:
– Vase: approx. 28 cm high, approx. 14 cm wide
– Overall height of the lamp: approx. 56 cm
– Lampshade: approx. 25 cm diameter, 27 cm height
Technical:
The lamp is wired and ready to use.
– E27 socket made of black Bakelite
– Transparent cord routed directly to the socket at the back
– Toggle switch and Euro plug
– Designed for up to 120 watts / 230 volts
– High-quality brass end plate
The vase itself is in very good condition with a beautiful, even glaze and no detectable damage. The socket is securely anchored inside the vase with a plug-in solution. This can be removed at any time. No holes were drilled into the vase – the collectible value of the vase is fully intact.
This lamp is a distinctive one-off piece, combining classic West German Pottery with a decorative, timeless textile design. It is suitable both as a collector’s item and as a striking accent in a stylish interior.”}
