Silvered metal catchall tray by the prestigious Christofle house, after a drawing by Lino Sabattini, a major figure in 20th-century Italian design.

In the 1960s, Christofle called on international designers to modernize its collections and to inscribe its traditional know-how into a more contemporary aesthetic. It is in this context that Lino Sabattini collaborates with the house: already renowned for his work on clean, sculptural metal forms, he brings a decidedly modern vision, inspired by minimalism and Italian industrial design. His creations for Christofle are distinguished by fluid lines, balanced volumes, and great formal elegance, while highlighting the high level of execution that is characteristic of French silversmithing.

This model features a modern motif with slightly curved lines, and a subtly rounded edge, perfectly illustrating this meeting of artisanal tradition and contemporary design.
