Description from the seller

Raffinato Tavolo "Sutherland" Vittoriano in Radica di Noce con Intarsi in Bosso – XIX Secolo
Description of the Lot: magnificent living room table from the Victorian era, model "Sutherland", characterized by an extremely elegant space-saving design. The top, with softly rounded edges, is entirely veneered in noble walnut burl, selected to create a mirror-like play of natural grain patterns of extraordinary visual beauty.
Details of Manufacture: the table stands out for the richness of inlays in boxwood (marquetry). At the center and at the four corners of the top there are floral motifs in the form of tendrils and arabesques, finely incised. A double inlaid fillet runs along the entire perimeter, framing the rich figure of the burl.
Structure and Supports: the base is a masterpiece of turning. It rests on two main turned-column supports, joined by a central carved crosspiece. When the leaves are raised, the top is supported by two additional "gate-leg" legs that open smoothly. The whole ends on voluted feet shaped, equipped with their original ceramic/brass casters, typical of the era, which facilitate its movement.
Technical Sheet
Era: Second half of the 19th century (circa 1870/1880).
Style: Victorian / Eclectic.
Materials: Solid walnut structure, top in walnut burl, inlays in boxwood.
Condition: Very good. The piece retains its original patina. Minor signs of time and use are visible on the surface (small varnish opacities and light superficial scratches) that attest to its authenticity and do not impair its value. The hinges and opening mechanism are perfectly functioning.
Provenance: Family heirloom (Italy).
Height: about 70 cm.
Width (closed): about 15 cm.
Width (open): about 105 cm.
Depth: about 90 cm.
Shipping and Professional Packaging: to ensure the integrity of the furniture during transport, shipping will be entrusted to Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE). The table will be protected with custom packaging, high-strength bubble wrap and reinforced cardboard crate (or pallet protection). The shipment will be fully trackable and insured for the full final auction value. In this way, the buyer will receive the piece in total safety.
