Heatwave Protocol presents itself as a diptych where chromatic intensity and gesture merge into a visual language close to a system in overload. The two paintings operate as variations within the same energetic field, where incandescent tones — orange, acid yellow and saturated reds — seem to expand beyond the physical limits of the canvas.
Through overlays of spray, gestural marks and almost diagrammatic elements, the series builds a tension between control and collapse. Lines suggesting flow, interference or even technical signaling cross with more impulsive gestures, creating a composition that oscillates between the organic and the digital. There is a sense of an interrupted reading — as if we are faced with a visual code in the process of failure or transformation.
The title, Heatwave Protocol, reinforces this idea of a system activated under extreme conditions. “Heatwave” points to thermal and emotional saturation, while “Protocol” suggests structure, rule, an attempt at containment. Yet what emerges on the canvases is precisely the moment when that protocol can no longer contain the accumulated energy.
Despite the apparent abstraction, there is a strong spatial dimension: curved shapes and insinuated volumes create depth, almost like fragments of architecture or surfaces enlarged to the limit of perception. The areas of transparency and drips introduce a timing into the painting — recording action, speed and interruption.
Installed as a diptych, the work gains an expanded reading, where each canvas dialogues with the other, creating continuity and fracture simultaneously. Heatwave Protocol thus positions itself as a study on intensity, excess and failure — a territory where painting ceases to be merely an image and becomes a sensory experience.
