Description from the seller
Pope (1985) - "Aurora Scam’Art" - 2/20
The piece “Aurora Scam’Art” does not seek to be art. It seeks to sell itself.
A chromed mirror-effect figure, bright, seductive… designed to instantly catch the eye.
At its base: SCAM’ART.
On the sides: TRUST / ME.
Trust me. Buy.
Made in resin with a iridescent reflective finish, the piece constantly plays with light. When off, it reflects a cold, almost clinical image. Activated, it becomes hypnotic: an immersive multicolored light that attracts, fascinates… and short-circuits any critical distance.
And that is precisely the subject.
“Aurora Scam’Art” is an unabashed satire of the art market: a universe where everything becomes a product, where codes trump substance, and where, under the pretense of an artistic approach, the objective remains the same — to sell.
Here, nothing is hidden.
Everything is written.
A provocative, lucid piece perfectly in its era.
Edition limited to 20 copies for 2025, signed, numbered, and delivered with certificate of authenticity.
Fast and careful shipping (bubble wrap, tissue paper, and reinforced cardboard) with signature required on delivery.
Specifications:
- 7 luminous colors
- 3 diffusion modes (fixed, fading transitions, simple transitions)
- Power supply via USB cord with switch (included)
- Height: 20 cm
- Width: 9 cm
- Depth: 9 cm
A collector’s object that distorts censorship into art, and transforms the “Aurora Authentic Fake” into a true original.
Who is Pope?
Pope, cofounder of the AMA collective, develops a singular artistic universe backed by a visual arts practice since childhood, a high standard of detail, and meticulous visual research.
Through sculptures, paintings, and installations, he draws inspiration from photography, urban landscapes, and everyday scenes, with a sensitive and awed gaze, attentive to both the simplicity and the complexity of the world around him.
Pope mainly draws inspiration from the world around him but also through currents of renowned artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, Koons, Orlinski, Takashi, Fred Allart, Shepard Fairey, Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Hamilton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alec Monopoly, KAWS, Pantone, Mr. Brainwash, Blek le Rat, to name just a few.
Whether it’s a gift, a memento, or your personal collection of contemporary art, you’ll easily find your favorite piece thanks to the diversity of our works. Indeed, Pope pursues his passion for urban art through street art and pop art (in limited or non-limited editions), addressing a wide range of themes such as cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum), the dollar, money, gold, wealth, the sex industry, the harms of drugs, luxury brands and haute couture, the world of comics and video games, the pharmaceutical industry and medicines, recycling and upcycling, food and fashion industry products (sports, sneakers...),
Brands guide our choices and often our lives without us realizing it. Aware of this impact, Pope likes to mischievously misappropriate labels such as Louis Vuitton (LV), Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Prada, Gucci, Rolex, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), Supreme, Obey, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG, Mercedes, Nike (Air Jordan), Adidas (Stan Smith), Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Marvel and Avengers (Batman, Joker, Superman...), Disney (Mickey, Scrooge McDuck...), Nintendo, Sega, Tintin, Lego, Pokemon, Vans and many others.
Dear bidders, our collective makes every effort to ensure that all information needed to assess the lot is clearly detailed in the listing: dimensions, weight, description, and photos... After the sale, no unjustified claim will be entertained. Thank you for your understanding.
