Professor Emil Fischer (1852–1919) was a pioneering German chemist, often hailed as the "father of biochemistry" for his monumental work in mapping the chemical foundations of life. He was awarded the 1902 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Emil Fischer’s fame largely stems from his ability to map and create organic compounds, which are molecules primarily made of carbon. Before his work, many believed these substances possessed a "vital force" that could not be replicated in a lab. 
Fischer’s work on organic compounds primarily focused on three complex groups of natural products:
Sugars (Carbohydrates):
Fischer elucidated the 3D structures (stereochemistry) of sugars like glucose, fructose, and mannose
