A Danish design solid teakwood sculptural bowl attributed to Flemming Digsmed, manufactured by Attr. Digsmed in Denmark, dating to ca. 1960–1970, with a 26 cm diameter and 11 cm height, weighing 1652 g, in good used condition with minor signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
Danish sculptural teak bowl – attributed to Flemming Digsmed – Mid-Century Modern, ca. 1960
A beautiful example of Danish modernist wood design, executed in warm, figured teak and attributed to the designer and producer Flemming Digsmed Denmark. This exceptionally beautifully formed bowl embodies the organic language of form for which Scandinavian design from the mid-20th century is celebrated internationally.
The bowl stands out for its fully curved, sculptural shape and the characteristic heavily rounded rim, making it appear almost monolithic. The design balances functionality and pure form study – precisely the tension in which the best Danish modernism excels. The rich teak grain and warm honey-brown tones give the object a lively, natural appearance.
With its generous size, this piece works well as a fruit bowl or serving bowl, but above all it possesses the quality of a decorative design object that also convinces when displayed solo. The styling evokes associations with the work of Quistgaard and the high-quality Danish woodworking of makers like Digsmed.
An object with a strong Japandi / Scandinavian Modern aesthetic, that beautifully fits in both a vintage interior and a minimalist contemporary setting.
It is in very good original vintage condition, with only light signs of use appropriate to age and careful handling. The patina contributes to its authentic character. See the photos for a good impression; they form an integral part of the description.
Dimensions:
Height: 11 cm
Diameter: 26 cm
Weight: 1652 grams
A particularly attractive collectible for lovers of Danish design, Jens Quistgaard, Digsmed and mid-century modern wooden objects.
The item will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail, insured and with tracking via Smart Shipping.
