TRAVEL CIBORIUM IN SOLID SILVER – MAISON FAVIER – 19TH CENTURY
Travel ciborium in solid silver resting on a circular foot with repoussé and chased decorative motifs of stylized water leaves.
The baluster stem is ornamented with the same decorative vocabulary, with a relief vegetal design.
The hemispherical cup is sober, with a fluted lip, internally gilded with mercury (vermeil) in accordance with liturgical usage for the conservation of the consecrated hosts.
Domed lid with radiating decoration of broad water leaves, topped by a trilobed cross
PUNCHES
Minerva hallmark (first title, 950/1000) visible on the cup.
Assay mark identified: MAISON FAVIER, active in the 19th century.
Other control marks visible on the rim (photos attached).
Dimensions : Height: 17 cm - Weight: 126 grams
Good overall condition. - Wear from use and micro-scratches consistent with age. - Internal gilding well-preserved.
