Saudi commemorative coin minted in the context of the United Nations FAO campaign to combat hunger in the world. The obverse shows the national emblem of Saudi Arabia with a palm tree above two crossed swords and the inscription with the king Faisal’s name and the issuing country. The reverse features the face value “25 Halalas” (equivalent to a quarter of a riyal), the dual date in the Islamic and Gregorian calendars, and a Quranic quote appealing for compassion toward the poor. This piece reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the FAO program and represents a blend of economic modernization and traditional religious values, of particular interest to collectors of Islamic coins and humanitarian-themed items.
