Description from the seller
Rare Porsche 911 S Targa Softwindow Series 0 from 1967, one of the first produced with the “Targa” configuration which initially had the rear window in vinyl, hence defined here as “Softwindow.” In Series 0 cars, the chassis numbers of the Coupés started with 300, and the Targa models with 500. The chassis number of this car belongs to the “500” series batch; in fact, the chassis number is 500691.
Specifically, 718 cars were produced with this equipment, of which, according to the manufacturer’s data, only 246 were in the higher-performance S version. This is therefore a very rare model. The chassis, transmission and engine numbers match the original ones. Built in the first half of 1967, with the following options: blue-tinted glass, radio with antenna, speaker, fog lights, Webasto heating, tool kit. It was finished by the factory in Polo Red with black leatherette interior and was factory-equipped with forged aluminum Fuchs wheels, 4.5 inches wide, produced in this size only for this model year and therefore very rare. The spare wheel is steel and has, as can be seen from the photos, the manufacturing date of 1967!
The car has matching numbers and was originally delivered to Cupertino, California (USA). The climate of this location allowed the vehicle’s condition to be excellent. I purchased the car in 1998. The car was in good preserved condition, free from penetrating rust and regularly roadworthy. A careful conservative restoration was carried out, aiming to preserve as many original components as possible with the highest craftsmanship quality and attention to detail. The car was dismantled and extensively photographed. The original color, Polo Red, was applied using the correct Glasurit paint. Würth wax oil was applied to the hollow sections of the car for greater rust protection. The interior was reupholstered where necessary.
The engine was dismantled and overhauled internally according to the original Porsche specifications. The carburetors were also completely overhauled. Heat exchangers were installed along with a new exhaust silencer. The transmission was dismantled and internally overhauled according to the original Porsche specifications. General wear parts were replaced, a professional paint correction performed, extensive detailing and other small additions made to bring this extraordinary car to a higher level. It is not common for such a sought-after car to reach the market in such extraordinary condition. It is a very reliable car; the six-cylinder engine is in the most powerful version (160 HP) for that model year, with excellent torque and starts right up.
The car is of USA origin, regularly imported into Italy with duties paid and registered in Italy. The car can be technically verified at the Porsche Center of Naples. The Certificate of Origin issued by Porsche Italia and the Kardex with all original specifications are also published.

Request help with registration from a third-party service provider.Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
