Description from the seller
The Touring Carrozzeria of Milan was certainly among the most prestigious protagonists in the worldwide rise of Italian-style design and production in the automotive field. Touring has been active for about forty years and constituted a phenomenon entirely particular for the aesthetic coherence of its avant-garde models. In some cases—and Alfa Romeo is a notable example—the Carrozzeria Touring so well interpreted the characteristics of the brand that its coachwork came to embody the most genuine spirit of these models. In other cases, the famous Superleggera constructions highlighted the qualities of models from the most famous brands: the BMW berlinetta of the Mille Miglia 1940 and the Ferrari barchettas of 1949–50, the Lancia Flaminia coupés and spiders, the Aston Martins associated with James Bond. The person responsible for the projects and the driving force behind this venture was for many years Felice Bianchi Anderloni, a Milanese lawyer. After him, but in perfect harmony and continuity of style, his son, engineer Carlo Felice, co-author of this book. The volume for the first time treats the vast subject in an organic manner. The critical study of the work of the Bianchi Anderloni is accompanied by exceptional iconographic documentation including photographs, drawings, and figurines, eight of which are reproduced in color plates out of the main text. Essentially, the entire production is documented, both the pieces that reached the market in small series and those that remained at the prototype stage. A body of works that gave the Touring Superleggera firm a lasting fame and that justifies the recent return of its name to the automotive scene.
