This decorative chest is a Teluga Kavidipetti Marriage Dowry Chest from India and is made of teak wood. It is easy to recognize by its delicate latticework and the exuberantly adorned interior.
The chest dates from the mid-19th century. The decorative brass wirework is characteristic. The interior is divided into compartments that can be removed to reveal a large interior space. There is also a 'secret compartment'.

The inside of the lid is decorated with beautiful woodcarving and has an original mirror in the center. Old felt petals and flowers are still present.
