Description from the seller
Black Stile N68
A work that explores the threshold between presence and disappearance. In Black Stile N68, darkness is not flat—it breathes. Subtle vertical veils emerge and dissolve across the surface, creating a quiet rhythm that shifts depending on the angle and intensity of light.
The lower plane introduces a denser, almost mineral texture, where faint reflections appear like distant fragments—never fully revealed, always suggested. This contrast establishes a dialogue between depth and suspension: the upper field absorbs, while the base subtly emits.
Light plays a decisive role. Under direct illumination, delicate tonal variations unfold—soft charcoal greys, hidden bluish undertones, and gentle transitions that give the surface a living quality. In low light, the piece contracts into a near-total black, becoming more introspective, more contained.
The composition evokes a horizon that is not literal, but emotional—a boundary between what is perceived and what remains concealed. It invites a slow gaze, rewarding attention with nuance rather than immediacy.
