DESCRIPTION:

Museum director and art historian Dr. Friedhelm Häring describes the pictorial universe of Ralf Altrieth as follows:

"There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all the artist’s works. They are populated with narrative codes and fantastic tales. In this sense, Ralf Altrieth’s pictorial poems are a pure childlike chant... Yet the most astonishing thing manifested in these canvases is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of human beings."

In his paintings, Ralf Altrieth lets the shapes emerge and transform with the gesture, in a free and spontaneous movement. Figures often appear fleetingly, as if hesitating between being and disappearing.

The image forms through layers, the elements seem to float, respond to each other, intertwine, creating a living and open visual space.

The title is often added afterward. It aims to suggest a hint, a narrative, poetic dimension or sometimes simply humorous, never imprisoning the image in a single interpretation.

An expressive work that immediately catches the eye and gradually reveals all its richness.

BIOGRAPHY:

Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a German-born painter and musician. Trained in his teens with the painter Georg Schaible, then at the Academy of Fine Arts Nürtingen in the late 1980s, he has exhibited in France and Germany, notably at Galerie Hartmut Beck (Erlangen), MAC Paris and Galerie Théo de Seine (Paris). He lives and works today in the south of France.

SHIPPING:

Tracked shipping with signature. The work will be packed with the utmost care in a bespoke rigid packaging by the artist (protective board, bubble wrap, cardboard reinforcements, etc.) to ensure a secure transport.
