On offer is a Scandinavian mid-century modern cast iron candleholder created by the renowned Danish designer, Jens H. Quistgaard, in the 1960s for Paro Design Denmark. It is a splendid MCM piece with a geometric form and meant to hold 12 slim taper candles, and measures 12 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm high. The candleholder is in excellent condition, with very little signs of age and usage. It comes in its original box (which shows signs of use) and the Paro informational leaflet. The candleholder has the following attribution marks: Paro Design, Made in Denmark, and Mønsterbeskyttet.
DIMENSIONS: The candleholder has a diameter of 12 cm and is 1.5 cm high.
CONDITION: Excellent condition, with very few signs of usage and age.
TRANSPORT: The candle holder will be well packaged and boxed, and dispatched with a tracking number.
JENS HARALD QUISTGAARD was a Danish sculptor and designer, known principally for his prolific work at Dansk Designs, where he was chief designer from 1954 to 1983. Quistgaard’s creations became synonymous with Scandinavian Modern. He apprenticed under Georg Jensen and developed from being a draughtsman and relief-maker to an internationally-renowned sculptural industrial designer. Quistgaard’s designs are exhibited at major galleries/museums and in homes around the world.
