Royal Tichelaar Makkum – hand-painted wall plate – polychrome – approx. 1960–1970
Beautiful handmade painted earthenware plate from Royal Tichelaar Makkum, executed in a rich polychrome decor. In the center is an elegant flower vase with exuberant leaf and bloom motifs, surrounded by refined border decoration with floral and scroll ornaments. The harmonious combination of cobalt blue, fresh green, and warm orange-red accents gives the plate a lively and decorative appearance.
This plate is produced according to the centuries-old tradition of Makkum pottery, with each piece hand-painted. The subtle variations in brushwork emphasize the artisanal character.
The back bears the hand-painted “Makkum” shield mark with “W”, typical of Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum. Based on this mark and the workmanship, the plate can be dated to the 1960s–1970s of the 20th century.
