Description from the seller

Russian Kazak
Hand-knotted wool rug, decorated with three geometric medallions, on a red and blue background, around three borders.
Sold with its certificate of authenticity.
Russian Kazak: hand-knotted rug, originating from the region located to the north and west of Lake Sevan, in the southwestern Caucasus. Originally, these rugs were named after the village of Kazakh (Azerbaijan), where they were manufactured until about 1925. They are among the best-known and most appreciated Caucasian rugs. They are characterized, among other things, by a long pile and by the fact that they sometimes have up to eight weft threads between their rows of knots. These rugs with relatively spaced knots have a high-quality wool pile, which gives them good durability. Most are roughly dozar in size (about 200 x 120 cm), and their width is often notable in relation to their length. The colors are vivid and the patterns large and original.
