A three‑piece black iron Scandinavian mid‑century candleholder set designed by Jens H. Quistgaard for Kronborg Design, Denmark, dating from the 1960s, in excellent condition and capable of holding 30 slim taper candles with modular geometric forms.

On offer is a set of 3 Scandinavian mid-century modern candleholders created by the renowned Danish designer, Jens H. Quistgaard, in the 1960s for Kronborg Design Denmark. It is a splendid, brutalist, MCM set with minimalist geometric forms, and combined can hold 30 slim taper candles. The candleholders are made of iron and have a black lacquer finish; the pieces are modular, and can be arranged to create different configurations. The three pieces are in excellent condition, with very little signs of age and usage. The candleholders have the following attribution marks: Kronborg Design, and Made in Denmark
DIMENSIONS: The two square pieces measure 11 cm x 11 cn and a height of 1.7 cm. The smaller star-shaped candleholder is 7 cm x 7 cm, and 1.25 cm high.
CONDITION: Excellent condition, with very few signs of usage and age.
TRANSPORT: The candleholders will be packaged and boxed with care, and dispatched with a track and trace code.
JENS HARALD QUISTGAARD was a Danish sculptor and designer, known principally for his prolific work at Dansk Designs, where he was chief designer from 1954 to 1983. Quistgaard’s creations became synonymous with Scandinavian Modern. He apprenticed under Georg Jensen and developed from being a draughtsman and relief-maker to an internationally-renowned sculptural industrial designer. Quistgaard’s designs are exhibited at major galleries/museums and in homes around the world.
