Description from the seller
Rare laboratory moving-iron wattmeter, a portable (movable) iron instrument, produced by the prestigious Italian house C.G.S. Monza (Istrumenti di Misura) around the mid-20th century. The instrument is housed in its original cabinet made of fine wood with a carrying handle and a hinged lid.
Technical details
Model: HIK180T
Accuracy: class 0.5 (very high technical specification for the era).
Scale: features a mirror scale to eliminate parallax error during manual reading.
Terminals: complete with original jumpers on the top for configuring the ranges.
Damage / Condition
The object is preserved in its original, “lived-in” condition. Although structurally solid, the following details are noted:
Glass interior: dirt and light dust are present on the inner side of the glass, which partially obscures clarity but does not impair reading.
Wood case: shows normal signs of age, small scratches, and a dust patina consistent with age and prolonged storage.
Handle: the leather strap shows wear, cracking and aging due to time.
Panel: the Bakelite is intact, but the terminals and external metal parts show natural superficial oxidation.
Restorations / Alterations
No recent restorations have been performed. The instrument has not been opened to clean the interior of the glass in order to preserve the integrity of the seals and original components.
Note: It is sold as a collectible/display piece and is not electrically tested.
