Venetian style mid-20th century mirror (circa 1950–1960) in crystal glass and wood, made in Italy, with outer dimensions of 90 cm high by 70 cm wide by 4 cm deep and a lightly smoked mirror, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
This mid-20th-century Venetian mirror has that silent, elegant presence that doesn’t need ostentation to command attention. Its design plays with the illusion of silvering: it isn’t a flashy shine, but a soft, almost nacreous glow that wraps the frame and makes it seem lighter than it really is. The moulding, with its stepped planes and that bevel that catches light at different angles, creates a depth effect very typical of Venetian workshops that, even in the middle of the 20th century, continued reinterpreting their tradition with a more refined language.
The surface of the mirror, slightly smoked by the passage of time, adds character without compromising clarity. That slight veil, almost imperceptible, gives it an air of a lived-in object, a piece that has accompanied generations without losing its dignity. The overall impression is a blend of restrained modernity and classical craftsmanship: clean lines, balanced proportions, and that touch of sophistication that only Venetian mirrors know how to maintain, even when they move away from the most exuberant ornamentation.
It is a mirror that doesn’t seek the spotlight, but it achieves it. Its discreet silvering, its elegant geometry, and its natural patina make it a decorative piece that brings light, serenity, and an echo of timeless refinement.
Insured shipping and careful packaging.
