Medsan, Bonsai Gardeners (盆栽の庭師) - Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm giclée on a wood-mounted frame, 2026 limited edition, numbered 1, in excellent condition, sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, the artist brilliantly continues his exploration of scale play and lilliputian scenes. This lithograph features a majestic bonsai (ideally a pine, matsu) planted in a wide white pot, treated not as an indoor plant but as an ancient, monumental tree stormed by a team of workers from the Edo period.
Visual ingenuity is expressed through the contrast of size and the dynamism of the scene. Tiny gardeners and peasants, dressed in their blue traditional outfits, bustle around the giant plant. Using long wooden ladders to reach the branches, they pull on ropes and wield pruning shears to trim the needles with the precision of a massive pruning site. The integration of the signature is particularly clever here: the artist’s name in katakana (メドサン) is painted in broad blue characters directly on the pristine surface of the pot, fitting perfectly into the artwork’s universe while replacing the traditional ukiyo-e cartouche.
The impact of the composition is magistrally enhanced by a vivid coral, uniform background. This warm, pop hue contrasts ideally with the deep green of the pine needles, the textured browns of the gnarly trunk, and the bright white of the ceramic. The precise linework and flat areas of color couple the refinement of Japanese prints with a contemporary, surreal reading.
A piece of great poetry, teeming with narrative details, ideal for infusing a touch of nature, serenity, and offbeat humor into a designer interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a group of artists united around a living, contemporary, plural creation. Installed as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, mixing abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
