Description from the seller
Icon of Comfort: Togo Sofa (2-Seater) – Design by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset
We present at auction an unquestionable icon of 20th-century design: the two-seat Togo sofa, in a refined powder-blue cotton fabric version.
Designed by Michel Ducaroy in 1973, the Togo dismantled traditional furniture canons, introducing a revolutionary aesthetic based on formal freedom and absolute relaxation.
Design and History: The Foam Revolution
The Togo represents the first true "pillow sofa", an object that defined an era:
Innovative Structure: The distinctive feature is its entirely foam core made of differentiated-density polyurethane foam. This design eliminates any rigid internal framework, highlighting fluid forms and the iconic quilting.
Color and Material: The cotton upholstery in the elegant powder-blue shade gives the sofa a contemporary freshness and a natural tactile appeal. Please refer to the close-up photos to appreciate more precisely the tone and texture of the fabric.
Wellness Philosophy: Michel Ducaroy conceived the Togo as a piece of furniture capable of naturally adapting to the human body's postures, offering casual elegance that remains an international reference.
Lot Conditions: Conservation State and Authenticity
- The auction piece, produced originally by Ligne Roset, is in excellent used condition:
- Comfort and Support: The interior polyurethane foam padding is perfectly intact and robust, maintaining the original elasticity and ergonomic comfort.
- Fabric Condition: The upholstery has been professionally cleaned and sanitized. It is in excellent overall condition, with only slight signs of use and age that testify to its history without compromising its aesthetics.
- Authenticity Guaranteed: The piece's originality is evidenced by the original Ligne Roset label sewn on the back, confirming official provenance.
