Description from the seller
This watercolor work captures the intimate and warm essence of traditional Mexican architecture. The composition centers on a blue door worn by time, framed by earth-toned walls and accompanied by a collection of pots with cacti and plants that bring life, texture, and balance to the scene.
The author, Milagros Ochea, an architect and restorer of historic monuments for more than 45 years, conveys in this piece a whole life of observation, sensitivity, and respect for architectural heritage. Already in her current stage, she finds in watercolor a new form of artistic expression, where each brushstroke reflects her deep knowledge of structures, materials, and the passage of time upon them.
Inspired by her travels to Mexico —a country she has visited on three occasions— this work is born from emotional memory and admiration for its urban landscapes. The watercolor technique allows a delicate fusion of colors, transparencies, and textures, evoking the light, the climate, and the authenticity of the surroundings.
A piece that represents not only a place, but also a story, an expert gaze, and a new creative phase.
