Description from the seller
Antique Butcher’s Carbine Folding Camera with Lukos II Shutter – approx. 1915–1925
Offered: a characterful and compact Butcher’s Carbine (Watch Pocket model) from the early 20th century. This type of camera marks the transition from plate cameras to portable roll-film cameras and is a fine example of early photographic technique.
The camera is equipped with an original Lukos II shutter with settings T, B and about 1/25 – 1/100 second. The lens is an Aldis Uno Anastigmat f/7.7 (75mm), a quality lens for this period, known for its characterful and soft image rendering.
A striking detail is the front ring with the marking “Wollensak Opt. Co. U.S.A.”. This points to a later replacement or assembly, which is not unusual for cameras from this period and adds to the unique character of this specimen.
Condition:
- Camera in neat, used condition with visible signs of wear appropriate to age
- Leatherette appears intact (not tested for light-tightness)
- Shutter runs, but function and accuracy not tested
- Lens is clear with light signs of wear
Important:
The photos are explicitly part of the description and the auction. Please study them carefully for a good impression of the condition and completeness.
Notable details:
- Compact “vest pocket” size
- Original mechanics largely present
- Interesting collectible object or decorative piece
- Possibly suitable as a project for the enthusiast
A fine piece of photographic history with a uniquely assembled character.
Carefully packed and shipped.
