Description from the seller
DAN: Le Regard Intérieur - Luc Berthier - Mint Condition - Provenance: Library Drs. T. Moody
A unique opportunity for the serious collector of Tribal Art and the connoisseur of bibliophile editions. This lot concerns an almost unobtainable copy of the prestigious catalog "DAN: le regard intérieur", published by the African Muse Gallery (Luc Berthier) on the occasion of Parcours des Mondes in Paris.
Condition: Mint (As New)
This copy is in an exceptional 'Mint' condition. The book is unread; the binding is still extremely tight and the spine is completely unbroken (no reading crease). The interior is pristine white and shows no signs of use. In this state the publication is almost unavailable on the secondary market.
Provenance: Private library of Dr. T. Moody
This book comes from the respected private library of Dr. T. Moody. The provenance from a specialized collection underscores the quality and care with which this object has been preserved. For the collector, this provenance adds an extra layer of authenticity and value.
The work, written by Luc Berthier and Marie-Noëlle Verger-Fèvre, is regarded as an important reference framework for the art of the Dan people (Ivory Coast / Liberia). It contains detailed descriptions and high-quality photography of about 30 top pieces, including rare gaegon and dea gla masks from renowned collections.
While the current new price at the publisher (if still available) is €450, this lot offers you the chance to acquire a copy in identical condition at a sharp auction price. Given that this edition is almost sold out, this is an opportunity to obtain an essential collectible for any library of African art.
