The Michael Ochs Archives, located in Venice, California, contained 3 million vintage prints, proofs, and negatives that were frequently licensed for use in CD reissues, books, films, and documentaries.
The Los Angeles Times called Ochs the “premier rock'n'roll photo archivist in America” and described his archives as “the dominant force in the rock image market.” The New York Times called him the world’s leading source of photographs of musicians. Ochs sold his archives to Getty Images in 2007.
