Description from the seller
Beautiful work by painter Mario Acerbi (Milan, August 18, 1887 – Pavia, 1982) oil on canvas in good condition. The painting measures 48 x 62 cm.
From 1900 to 1909 he attended with profit the Civic School of Painting of Pavia, pupil of Carlo Sara, Romeo Borgognoni and Giorgio Kienerk, winning in 1907 the Lauzi Prize and in 1910 the Frank Prize (later annulled for procedural defect).
His father Ezechiele's teaching, a well-known landscape painter and a leading figure of Pavese artistic culture, was decisive in his formation, oriented toward a painting language of naturalist origin.
From 1908 he appeared at exhibitions in Turin and Milan with a repertoire of landscapes, portraits and flowers executed drawing on his father's models that were most commercially successful.
He distinguishes himself as a portraitist for Milanese and Pavese patrons, obtaining official commissions from several Lombard authorities for which he realized historical paintings and frescoed religious subjects.
